Since my freshman year I have attended Winter Camp at Hume Lake. There are plenty of reasons that everyone loves camp: time with friends, a weekend get away, the beautiful scenery, the more than decent food, and best of all: a weekend full of worship and intentional time spent with God.

Jeff Gokee was the guest speaker. He guided us through the importance of trusting God in every aspect of our lives through our key verse Proverbs 3:5-6. In order to truly live with God as the center of our lives, we must trust in Him with ALL our hearts and lean not on our own understanding, in all our ways submit to Him, and he will make our paths straight.

Coming back down the mountain, our youth group was commissioned to be lights wherever we go and in whatever we do. We must intentionally set ourselves apart from our culture by behaving differently than the rest of the world. When the world asks why we do this, we can say it is for the glory of God. Each and every day we have to make it our intention to show Christ to the world through what we say and what we do. As students we have the opportunity to be surrounded by unbelievers everyday. Even if they don't accept our invitations to church, or the Christian club on campus, we can still show them Jesus through our love for one another and our daily routines. Camp is a wonderful time to be ignited in God's love and set out on the world. Personally, I love seeing others in our youth group be transformed by God's presence, and of course I love experiencing that feeling myself. Camp is always an incredible, life-altering weekend and I have been blessed to be able to witness.
