Dear First Pres,

What a joy it was to launch a refreshed partnership with World Vision on Sunday! Seriously, I am thrilled with your response. We heard from Chad Erlenborn, World Vision Senior Church Advisor, and had the privilege of coming alongside World Vision’s work in Bena Tsemay, Ethiopia. As I said on Sunday, there are about 3500 children that need sponsorship in that relatively new World Vision community. But now, because of your prayerful generosity, there are 102 less. That’s right! On Sunday we sponsored 102 children! Praise be to God!

Then, on Wednesday, there was a fantastic party in Ethiopia. All the pictures of FPC sponsors were posted, and each of the 102 children were able to enter into that room and choose one of us. I wonder what new sense of hope those children have today because of their choice yesterday. Remember, every time a child gets sponsored through World Vision it doesn’t just impact them. It directly impacts at least 4 other children, not to mention the families. So, that’s a huge impact for one Sunday, First Pres. Way to go!

Now, this coming Sunday, we’ll get a chance to see who chose us. It’s going to be a ton of fun, and powerful too. Plus, there will be a photo booth set up for anyone who feels called to jump in on the excitement and sponsor a child.

Partnering with World Vision has been a long habit of the heart for me and Diane. It’s been one of the most impactful ways for us to help our family understand the needs of the world. Because of it, countries like Guatemala, Ghana, and Eswatini aren’t just random countries on the other side of the world. They are the home countries for our friends: Keila, Abdala, and Mhlobiso. Now, I’m so excited that there is such a strong community of folks from our congregation focused on the brand new work in Bena Tsemay, Ethiopia. Perhaps a day will come when some of us can see the work in-person. But, even if that never happens, we can certainly work together to support, encourage, and pray for the work of Jesus in that community.

Blessings,

Pastor Jeremy
