Dear First Pres,

Every once in a while I just need to share some bullet points. Today is one of those days:

  • Sunday night’s service for Pastor Meagan Bergem’s ordination was awesome! If you missed it, I encourage you to watch it on our YouTube channel. Thanks so much to the many of you who participated in the special night. Congratulations Pastor Meagan!
  • Are you following FPC Fresno on social media? I know not all of you have Instagram or Facebook, but if you do, I encourage you to go to our church page and check out some of the posts you have missed. Last week we posted a video of several of our high school grads sharing their hearts. You don’t want to miss it. Watch the video, like it, and comment on it so that our page can grow in popularity.
  • This Sunday we’re launching a brand new sermon series: God Is. This will be a series on the character and heart of God. It’s going to start this Sunday with an incredible testimony that you’re not going to want to miss. Seriously, you’re not going to want to miss it. Plus, I really encourage you to be thinking about friends you can invite to join us during this season. Do you know someone who needs to know the heart of God? Invite them to join you or to watch the sermons online.
  • Next summer, June 12-24, 2022, I will be leading a Biblical Tour of Israel with our tour guide and teacher, Dr. Brian Schultz. Brian is a professor of Biblical & Theological Studies at Fresno Pacific University. He spent 10 years living in Jerusalem while working on his graduate degrees. And he is an incredible guide to the land of the Bible. If you’re interested in learning more about this “bucket list” trip, please join us 7pm Sunday, June 27 at the church for a one-hour informational meeting.
  • For those of you with kids and grandkids - this week our summer activities launch in full. If you haven’t yet met our summer staffers, I hope you will be intentional about that. Also, I truly encourage you to help your kids enter into the assortment of things happening. Leading my kids to find ways to connect in our church’s children and youth ministries is one of the most important things I’ve done as a parent.
  • Masks … it’s unfortunate that the wearing of masks has become a controversial issue in our culture. I truly want to encourage us in Christ to rise above that. This week we saw the tier system in our state be dissolved, but there are still murky waters about exactly what mask requirements/guidelines will be. How many of you had confusion this week about whether you should wear your mask when you were out and about? I did. So, what are we doing at church? If you haven’t been vaccinated, I encourage you to wear a mask per the CDC guidelines. However, we’re not going to require anyone to wear a mask in worship. As of right now, the county is still requiring masks in certain contexts. One of those contexts is childcare. So, for now, we’re kindly asking our volunteers and staff working with our youngest kids to keep wearing masks when indoors in those settings.

I was so grateful to see our County’s COVID numbers decline again this week. Praise the Lord. Please continue to pray that God will bring COVID-19 to an end.

Blessings,

Pastor Jeremy
