Dear First Pres,
This is the final week of our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. Last week, I confessed that I wasn’t feeling focused in my prayers and that I needed to identify a few areas to relentlessly lift up before the Lord in the midst of my fasting. Today, I want to invite you to join me in three particular prayers. Would you use these last four days of this special season of prayer to focus with me on these three requests? When the local church agrees together in prayer, it is powerful in so many ways. Would you agree with me in these particular prayers
“Our Father in heaven, please bring COVID relief.” There are so many impacts of this pandemic physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. I know the Lord is at work in the midst of it. I’ve experienced and seen His mercy. Let’s ask God to pour out His mercy into the spaces COVID has ravaged and to overwhelm those spaces with His goodness.
“Our Father in heaven, please provide rain for the Valley.” We all know that it has been a very dry January. Even after a wet December, we still need plenty of rain to reach the normal annual rainfall. And, from what I read, we need well above normal rainfall to move us out of drought. Let’s ask God to send rain and to help us steward well the resources He has already graciously given.
“Our Father in heaven, pour out Your abundant life on FPC Fresno.” In Ephesians chapter 3, the Apostle Paul prays for the Ephesian churches. He prays that they would know the love of Christ in such a way that they would “be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:19). Yes, Lord, fill us to overflowing with Your fullness and life. Enliven the hearts that need to be revitalized. Fill us with Your abundant love for our neighbors. Send a special anointing of the Holy Spirit to renew and restore what needs repair. Fill us afresh with Your breath of life to be Your missionary people in our everyday lives. Cause us to yield those areas of our individual and corporate lives we’ve tried to keep for ourselves. Pour out Your abundant life on FPC Fresno.
These are the three prayers I am focusing on during the last of these 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. I invite you to agree with me in prayer for these things.
