Dear First Pres,

Depending on who you ask, this upcoming Sunday might be the most exciting Sunday of the year. If you saw our announcement video, you heard the savory (or maybe “sweet” is a better word) news. We’re having cinnamon rolls! Yahoo!

Not that we necessarily need a special reason to have cinnamon rolls, but it’s simply a way for us to celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent together. It’s been another tough year, and yet God has continued to reveal to us His faithfulness and fill us with hope. Let’s celebrate the goodness of God, the homecoming of college kids, the visiting of family, the provision of this week’s rain and the incredible grace of God to send us the good news of great joy, Jesus Christ.

Our friends with the Cinnamon Roll Shack food truck will be ready to serve at 10am. And, by the way, they’re free! I can’t wait.

Then, next Friday night we’ll be celebrating Christmas Eve. It’s going to be a wonderful and powerful night of worship. Both services, at 4:30 and 6:00, will be the same. In other words, both services will include the choir, the worship band, the orchestra, an all-inclusive Christmas reading, and candles in the courtyard. Kids are absolutely welcome in either service, and we will have childcare available for your infants through preschool age children during both hours.

So, I hope you have your lawn sign out. And I pray that the Lord has been stirring your heart for a friend, neighbor, co-worker or family member who would really benefit from being with us. When the Lord puts that person on your mind, invite them to join us.

Finally, after preaching about Mary this past Sunday, I haven’t been able to shake her powerful response to the angel, Gabriel. “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” (Luke 1:38). May the Holy Spirit enable us to live with that same attitude.

Blessings,

Pastor Jeremy
