That's what can be heard echoing throughout the FPC campus this week. It is an absolute joy to be amongst a STELLAR group of volunteers loving on Pre-K through 5th Grade students at City Bible Adventure. This year the theme is “Stellar” and the Fellowship Hall has completely transformed into an intergalactic space station. If you see Geraud Brumfield or Teresa Leonard around this Sunday, please say a big “thank you!” to them and their thoughtful planning, recruiting, and equipping of this stellar volunteer team this week.

The volunteers and students are full of laughter, relationship building and the joy of Jesus. Anthony Sidney, Robbie Ellis and Unique Edden have kicked-off each evening with skits and interactive worship to teach the Bible Points: “When life feels dark, shine Jesus’ light!” “When people don’t get along, shine Jesus’ light!” “When good things happen, shine Jesus’ light!” “When people are sad, shine Jesus’ shine!” “When people need help, shine Jesus’ light!”

As you may have picked up, we are hoping to SHINE for JESUS and see him transform lives!

I love watching children light up when they begin to understand who Jesus is and respond to him excitedly. It is a beautiful picture of God’s kingdom and reminds me of Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Jesus received the children graciously and joyfully. If you need to be reminded of Jesus’ gentleness and how he meets people of all ages, read the passages where Jesus meets and cares for children. This is a beautiful picture of how Jesus cares for all of his children -which means you- no matter what age!

Parents, we know the summer is busy and the weather is a bit intense, but if your kids are sitting at home this week, IT IS NOT TOO LATE to bring them down. We are not even halfway through the week yet. Imagine what hope and joy Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night (from 5-8pm) may bring your child or maybe the kids of your friend, your neighbors, your nieces and nephews.

For those of you who have partnered with us in discipling children this week, we are so grateful for you! Whether you are the parent on drop-off duty or preparing food or leading a station this week, we are grateful. I pray we are people who cannot help but share the sweet love of Jesus with others.

One of my favorite things about CBA is how it embodies our ethos of partnership. We are in partnership with Hope Now, Martin Park, Bethany Inner-City Church, World Impact, and FPC to host this week's activities. We continue to experience the reality that we are better together. We have over 70 volunteers working throughout this week in all of these areas: Registration Team, Food Teams from local ministry partners, Crew Leaders, Pre-K Coordination & Team, Station Leaders, Nursery Leaders, Media Team, and Summer Staff.
