Dear First Pres,

Diane and I took a paper copy of the Wall Street Journal for many years. One of my favorite things about the Journal is that on the left side of the front page is a long list of article summaries. If I wanted a quick summary of the contents of the day’s Journal I could quickly read through those summaries. Today’s letter from me is meant to read like that left column on the Journal’s front page.

Have you been praying this week for the Lord of the harvest to send workers into the harvest field? That’s one of the main things I invited you to do this week during Sunday’s sermon. Beloved, in Luke 10:2, Jesus declared that the harvest is plentiful. That means, by God’s grace, there are people all around us who are eager and ready to hear and receive the good news of Jesus. But, as Jesus says, the workers are few. So, as we go, let’s pray that the Lord stirs others to join us in being workers for His harvest.

Be prepared for Live Scan. One of the most important things in our Children & Youth ministry is to protect kids from harm. That’s why all those who serve with children and youth must participate in a background check as part of the onboarding process. The problem is that this can become a barrier for people in our congregation to serve because the background check takes time and can be inconvenient. So, this Sunday, the Live Scan team is coming to us. My hope is that the majority of you will take a few minutes to get this done on Sunday between 10am and 1pm. Even if you’re not currently thinking about serving with kids, please get this done so that when there is a need to hold babies or support preschool or serve at a children’s event or drive some teens you’re ready to step right in.

Men, want to make a lifetime of impact with a 5-day cost? I’m very excited to be part of the Men’s Mexico Build from November 9-13. I would love for you to join me. Check out the details for registration HERE and/or contact BEN with questions.

Is your school year calendar set? Diane and I have been working together to set our calendars for the new school year, both weekly and one-time events. I imagine the same is true for you. I encourage you to scroll through all the notices in this Weekly. As you do, be sure to mark your calendars appropriately. Here are a few special events that I’d love for you to remember and explore:
The fall season is here. No, not in the weather (although it was an unusual week), but in our ministries. There are so many ways for you to connect and grow and serve with FPC. (See September's calendar.) I encourage you to consider your weekly engagement along with the special events listed above.

I’m praying for you. May the Lord use you for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done and His name to be hallowed no matter what your current circumstances entail.

Blessings, Jeremy
