Dear First Pres,

We received some big news this week of some upcoming changes on our staff.

Kaitlyn Kelley, who has been serving as our Front Desk Administrator and is also a Pink House Intern, will be stepping down in May as she prepares for life after the Pink House. It’s been a joy to get to know Kaitlyn these past several months as she has served with a smile and a “yep, yep.” And we’re excited for what the Lord has in store for her next, even if she’s not quite sure what that is just yet.

Emily Bernal, our Preschool Coordinator, will be stepping down from her post at the end of the school year. While Emily has been working for us, she’s been pursuing her dream of being a classroom teacher. It’s time for that dream to become a reality as Emily is finishing her credential program and expecting to be in a classroom in August. Congratulations to Emily, and a massive thanks for her infectious joy.

Finally, our dear Children’s Ministry Director, Margie Nunez, has decided it is time for her to retire (or as we like to say, get reassigned). Margie has been a loving and faithful member of our staff team for 7+ years. Her love for kids is nothing but inspiring. But the Lord has given her a nudge, and as usual, Margie is responding. Here is the news in her own words:

"It is with great emotion that I announce to you that I will be retiring as your Children’s Ministry Director on June 30. If the position is not filled by then, my end date will be August 31. I believe God led me to this decision and I trust Him fully with the future of Kingdom Kids and my reassignment as He directs my next steps. Please know that I’m not leaving the church. You are my cherished church family, and Al and I will continue to worship and serve here and in the community."

As Margie states, her exact retirement date is still to be determined. It will be no earlier than June 30 and no later than August 31. Meanwhile, Pastor Meagan and I will be working with the Operations Commission (our team of folks overseeing facilities, finance, and personnel under the Session’s authority) to chart the path forward. If you know of anyone who might be a great fit to lead our Kingdom Kids ministry forward, please let us know. The job posting will be live very soon.

Transitions are hard, still, we can fully trust the Lord. Our church is clearly in His hands. Please join me, therefore, in praying God’s blessing over these three outstanding staff members and the ministries that they support and lead.

Finally, this Sunday we’re going to get an update from one of our church families whom God has called to leave their home and join in His work in a land far away. Because of the sensitivity of the place God is calling them to go, we will be shutting down our Live Stream before they share. I’m sorry for those who plan to worship online, but we are gladly making this accommodation for the security of this family.

Blessings,

Jeremy
