Dear First Pres,

Last week I mentioned that summer is a wonderful time to focus on building and deepening relationships with folks. I've already sensed that in my own home; as the kids haven't had any homework this week, we've had a lot more time to just be together.  As I mentioned last week, I encourage you to be thinking about who the Lord would have you connect with this summer ... and then make a plan to do it. Don't delay. The summer will go by quickly.

One of the ways to connect is at our All Church Picnic this Sundayevening from 5-7 at Woodward Park, Parkview Shelter. Many hands are already taking care of the food, so you can simply bring your lawn chair and enjoy a great evening with the whole church. There will be some random activities available to enjoy, plus our (now) traditional sing-along. And, if you've been hoping for a low key event that's an easy entrance for new folks, this is it! In other words, don't be afraid to load some other folks in your car and bring them with you to meet your church.

Also, starting on June 19 (Father's Day), we're moving to our one-service worship schedule. Our summer worship time is 9:00 a.m. NEW, this summer is a regular summer Education Hour starting at 10:20 a.m.Classes will be available for little ones, and all the way through to us old ones.

I'm especially excited about the adult Education Hour class called Activating God Space. One of the main things we struggle with, I think, when we're connecting with folks who aren't Christians, is knowing how to lead conversations to a deeper place. If we ever want to share the good news of Jesus, not only do we know the good news of Jesus, but we need to know how to find the God space in our relationships and conversations. That's exactly what the Activating God Space course is all about. It's going to be a great training experience for all of us. So, whenever you are here for worship this summer, I really hope you'll jump in on this course (in other words, you don't have to commit to every class to attend). Attend Activating God Space, unless you're one of those awesome folks who volunteered to serve our kids inSunday school this summer (I am so grateful for you).

Blessings,
