Dear First Pres,

“That was the best Annual Meeting ever!” That’s the quote I heard from at least five different folks on Sunday morning. Now, I’m pretty sure none of these folks really has all the annual meetings they’ve attended on a Top 25 rankings list. Still, I take it as high praise for the work the Session did in organizing Sunday’s meeting. And, I couldn’t agree more. It was a great meeting together! I especially enjoyed hearing the personal stories of how God has been at work in and through our congregation. If you missed it, I encourage you to ask around about what happened.

One of the things we talked about at the meeting was our Vision Team. The Vision Team is working, under the Session’s oversight, to lead the congregation in initiating strategies that will move us toward our vision of being a Great Commission Church. As a Vision Team, we believe there is significant work ahead for our church to truly live into that vision. That’s why we’d love for you to attend our First Pres Forum, coming up on February 5 during the Education Hour. Our aim will be to discuss with you, in more detail, what the Vision Team has been thinking about and what our plans are for the coming months.  Please join us, unless you are serving during that hour, for this important meeting.

Finally, please be praying for Chris “Poppy” Popadich on Friday morning.  At 8:45 a.m. (or so) he will be preaching a short sermon in front of our Presbytery. And then, at 10:15 a.m. he will be examined by the Presbytery for ordination. This is a big deal! Chris is well prepared, and I am confident he will be affirmed for ordination by our Presbytery. Still, it is an ominous task to stand in front of a room full of Teaching and Ruling Elders to be asked any theological, ecclesiological, or personal question.

I look forward to bringing you a report on Sunday morning.

Blessings,

Jeremy
