Dear First Pres,

You might find it odd, but I love our annual congregational meeting.  I love getting the chance to celebrate God’s faithfulness.  I love getting the chance to talk together about what’s happening in the coming year.  I love creating space for a dialogue with the congregation about the future of our church.

I love sharing my heart for the kind of mission community I believe God wants us to be. And, I love framing the business of the church in the context of worship. We have some important business to attend to on Sunday. Changing the bylaws of our church is not something we plan to do very often; they serve as an institutional policy manual alongside our Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) Constitution.  But it’s time to make the bylaws reflect our 5 year affiliation with the EPC, and it’s important for us to clearly state the mission, faith, and doctrine of our church. Those are the primary reasons the Session has been working for many months to bring this update to the congregation.

Also, just a reminder, if you haven’t read the 2014 Annual Report, it’s important that you do so. Sunday’s meeting and worship will primarily focus on what is coming ahead for our church.  By reading through the Annual Report you’ll be best prepared for that conversation about the future.

One of things I’m looking forward to the most about our meeting is the opportunity to pray together for our church. What a wonderful way for us to launch this new year together.  Please come.  The worship and meeting starts at 9:30 and is guaranteed to be fun and engaging.

Blessings,
