Dear First Pres,

Wednesday, February 10, is the beginning of Lent. We will start the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday service at 7pm. I very much encourage you to join with your church in this special and unique worship service. It is a powerful experience that helps to set our hearts right with God in this season of return, repentance, and renewal.

We also have a very helpful prayer guide to help us pray intentionally and corporately. It’s called Seek God for the City 2016 and it is full of daily prayer prompts from Ash Wednesday through Palm Sunday. Our church’s purpose statement points us toward God’s “redeeming transformation of our city and world.” Thus, it is appropriate for us to intentionally be praying for that redeeming transformation, which is what this prayer guide is all about. I hope that every household represented in our church picks up one of these booklets on Sunday or Wednesday night. Please bring a few dollars with you to cover the suggested donation of $2.

Finally, it’s time to start registering for the Church Vitality Weekend Seminar coming up Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 & 27. (Please see time details below.) Rev. Ken Priddy is an expert at helping local churches of all sizes align all their ministries with Jesus' Great Commission for the Church to go and make disciples. He will challenge, inspire and deliver insightful content that will help us be a church that grows not just by transfer growth, but by conversion growth - regularly seeing new people come to faith in Christ Jesus and join us in His mission to our city and world. Session and staff leaders believe that the timing of Ken Priddy's visit couldn't be better as we're coming off the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting and entering into a season of Lent with a special focus on praying for our city ... and getting ready for Luis Palau in 2017. This is a perfect time for us not only to learn how we as a church can actually structure ourselves to live out the Great Commission, but for us as individuals to learn how to truly live into and participate in our FPC purpose: to engage together in Christ’s work of making disciples for the redeeming transformation of our city and world.

These are exciting times for us. Now is a great time to register for this seminar. ($10 will get you in and provide you with a workbook!) Let’s engage together in Christ’s work.

Blessings,

Jeremy
