Ash Wednesday Service

In this special Wednesday evening service, we join Christians from many different denominations marking the beginning of Lent, the 40 days before Easter (excluding Sundays). The pastors will offer an “imposition of ashes,” during which you may choose to come forward and receive the sign of the cross made with ashes on your forehead. This simple act serves as a reminder of our mortality and sinfulness. We are reminded of the words God once said to Adam after he had sinned: “You are dust, and to dust you shall return” (Gen 3:19). We do this to prepare our hearts to receive the good news of forgiveness in Christ and the ultimate gift of eternal life through the death and resurrection of Jesus our Lord.
